Kellie and Jeremy Finlayson have shared the ‘special’ moment they met Ed Sheeran during the music superstar’s recent concert in Adelaide.

Following Port’s big win over Melbourne on Friday night, the couple spoke with Brian Taylor on Channel 7, although the terminally ill wife of Power star Jeremy was initially reluctant to talk on camera.

After being beckoned on to speak to the affable pundit, she shared the details of their encounter with the Grammy-winning artist.

The couple were invited to his concert at Adelaide Oval and got to meet Sheeran before he started the gig.

‘I got a little bit lucky; I won an award the night before and they gifted it to us for our wedding present,’ Kellie said.

‘He was actually pretty good. He walked out and knew who we were, so that was pretty cool.’

Sheeran, a close friend of the late Shane Warne’s, is known as a pseudo St Kilda supporter, but he has apparently jumped ship after meeting the pair.

‘He’s a Port supporter now, not St Kilda,’ Finlayson added. ‘It was special.’

Kellie, a mother-of-one, is battling terminal cancer and was honoured in March for the inspiration she gives for cancer sufferers.

She was diagnosed after giving birth to her daughter, Sophia, in August 2021.

Last December, the Finlaysons were dealt the horrible news that the cancer had spread to her lungs and became stage four terminal.

‘I don’t want anyone else to go through what I’ve gone through, and if I can save one person’s life from an early detection … that’s all I’m really here for,’ she said when accepting the award.

‘It’s easier spoken about than hidden away.  Any symptoms that you ever have, trust your gut, talk to your doctor, follow up with them.

‘If they tell you it’s nothing, find a new doctor, they’re not the one.’
