Jeremy Strong, 45, poses with his wife Emma Wall, 36, at the Tony Awards where the Succession star wins Best Actor

Jeremy Strong and his wife Emma Wall had a celebratory date night on Sunday at the Tony Awards as he won the Best Actor award for his role in An Enemy of the People.

The loved-up couple were glued to each other on the red carpet in their glam looks.

The Succession actor, 45, wore his favorite color, brown, in the form of a custom velvet tuxedo jacket with a shawl collar and black slacks.

He added some flair with a black ribbon bow tie and a unique collar on his white shirt.

His 36-year-old Denmark-born wife wore a long black dress with interesting texture on the bodice and several strands of pearls wound around her neck.

Brown has become the actor’s signature color. In a cover story for GQ last year he recounted something his wife said.

‘My wife told me that somebody said something like, “The three things you’re going to be certain of are death, taxes, and that Jeremy Strong will be wearing brown.”

‘I don’t know. It’s inexplicable,’ he continued about his go-to look, which he also called ‘monastic chic.’

He went on to explain: ‘I spend so much of my life wearing costumes, I feel almost denuded in my style. It’s so consistent and neutral that almost anytime I put on any wardrobe, I feel profoundly different from my baseline self.’

In his acceptance speech he thanked Amy Herzog who adapted An Enemy of the People for the stage. Jeremy also revealed he met his wife through her.

‘Thank you Amy, for your masterful work on this play. The last time I did a play of yours I met Emma, my wife, who I now have three beautiful children with.’

Jeremy and Emma met at a party in 2012 and married in 2016. They have three daughters: Ingrid, six, Clara, four, and a third daughter born in September 2021 who they have not shared the name of.

Emma is primarily a child psychologist who works for the foster care system in Los Angeles and as a clinician and teacher at UCLA.

She received her B.A. from Brown University and attended medical school at Oxford University.

Strong went on to thank the theater staff in his acceptance speech, apologizing for coming in looking like a train wreck.

‘I want to thank the ushers and the front-of-house staff who see me walking in every day looking like I’ve just been run over by a truck, and see me walk out looking somehow even worse, with bits of pretzels and Aquavit in my hair,’ Strong also said in his Tony acceptance speech.

He was up against William Jackson Harper, Leslie Odom, Jr., Liev Schreiber and Michael Stuhlbarg.

‘I felt overwhelmed,’ Strong told People of his emotional acceptance speech. ‘I was on stage today a few hours ago.

‘It’s a very different thing to disappear into a play than it is to stand up as yourself in front of your community. But I felt overwhelmed with gratitude.’

He continued: ‘To be honest, any contest when it comes to creative work is inherently ridiculous, so this belongs to me just as much as it belongs to William, and Liev, and Michael, and Leslie. But I feel very honored and moved.’

An Enemy of the People is running on Broadway through June 23.
