Jermaine Jenas bemoans Cristian Romero after his sending off against AC Milan

‘It’s a massive flaw to his game’: Jermaine Jenas bemoans Cristian Romero after the Tottenham defender was sent off for the second time this season after two yellow cards in Spurs’ Champions League defeat by AC Milan

Jermaine Jenas spoke of his frustration at the ‘brilliant defender’ Cristian Romero after he was sent off during Tottenham’s Champions League clash with AC Milan.

The Argentine star was sent off a second yellow card after a rash challenge in the second half in North London. Spurs could only draw the match 0-0, and have gone out of the Champions League after losing the first leg 1-0.

‘It’s a massive flaw to his game,’ said Jenas on BT Sport after the sending-off. ‘We spoke about it after 15 minutes. He’s such a top top player Cristian Romero, and he’s so loved here.

He’s a brilliant, brilliant defender but this is a part of his game that he needs to figure out. You love the all or nothing nature to him, but he needs to be aware he’s on a yellow card.’

Sportsmail’s Chris Sutton agreed with the former Spurs midfielder, a he told BBC Radio Five Live: ‘It is so, so reckless from Romero.

‘We spoke about the early booking putting him under pressure and he gambled on a challenge with Theo Hernandez and had to get the ball. He’s taken out Hernandez and the ref has no choice.’
