Jerry Jones blasts Roger Goodell during ring ceremony

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones blasted NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Sunday as he accepted his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.

Jones, who was inducted into the hall in Ohio in July, stood next to his Hall of Fame bust on a stage with his wife Gene at midfield of AT&T Stadium during halftime of the Cowboys’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

After receiving his ring and thanking his family, Jones told the crowd: ‘What I’ve tried to do with every breath is to make the Dallas Cowboys better, and to make the NFL better. That’s what I try to do and that’s what I’m going to do.’

Jones and Goodell have been in a feud ever since the commissioner told the NFL team owner that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott would be suspended for six games for domestic violence issues.

In a report from ESPN, Jones told Goodell that he was going to come after him with a vengeance after Elliott’s suspension, which began last week.

‘I’m gonna come after you with everything I have,’ Jones during a telephone call with Goodell on August 9.

He then referred to the Deflategate scandal and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. ‘If you think Bob Kraft came after you hard, Bob Kraft is a p***y compared to what I’m going to do.’

Goodell is currently facing the approval of a contract extension before it expires at the end of 2018.

Jones has been very outspoken about Goodell not getting a new deal, and even threatened to sue other NFL owners should they move forward with negotiating a new contract.

After reports of the behavior were made public Jones was sent a letter by NFL owners on the compensation committee who told them that his ‘antics’ were damaging to the league, reported The New York Times.

The letter went on to say that ‘if Jones was really concerned about the health of the league,’ he wouldn’t ‘threaten to sue the league and its owners if he does not get his way.’

In an interview with Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, Jones said he would continue to try to slow down the approval of an extension of Goodell’s contract.

However, Sunday night was spoiled for Jones after the Cowboys lost at home to the Philadelphia Eagles in an embarrassing 37-9.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw a career-high three interceptions and lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown in his second straight loss without Elliott.
