A sexual assault lawsuit filed against Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones more than three years ago is set to go to trial in March.

Jones, 81, has been accused of ‘kissing a woman on the mouth and forcibly grabbing her without her consent’ on September 16, 2018 at the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium.

The case was dismissed in 2022 after being filed two years earlier, only for a state appellate court to reverse that decision a year later, meaning it will now continue despite Jones’ unsuccessful appeal earlier this year.

According to court documents seen by The Dallas Morning News, the personal injury lawsuit against the Dallas chief is heading to a jury trial in March.

The case status for the lawsuit now reads as ‘re-opened’ on the online Dallas County courts docket after previously stating it was ‘closed’.

A jury trial is scheduled for March 18, 2024 in Dallas’ 160th Civil District Court.

When the lawsuit was first filed, Jones was quick to deny the accusations and brand them ‘malicious and hurtful’. As yet, he is yet to respond to the case being revived.

The case was originally against both Jones and the Dallas Cowboys, amid accusations that team officials ‘knew or should have known of’ the owner’s ‘misconduct’. Later, the NFL was added as a defendant in the case.

The woman accusing Jones of personal injury has said the alleged assault caused her to suffer ‘severe emotional distress’, ‘psychological pain and suffering’ and medical costs.

‘My client is very excited for herself and sex abuse victims from around the world to finally get some justice from the court and have a jury hear the case,’ her attorney told the Dallas Morning News in September.

Jones has owned the Dallas Cowboys since 1989. He bought the franchise for $150million and is worth an estimated $13.6billion.

They have won the Super Bowl three times under his ownership – in 1993, 1994 and 1996.

Jones was also recently locked in a legal battle involving another woman. In December, he was ordered by a judge to take a paternity test to establish whether he is the biological father of the 26-year-old woman who sued him earlier last year.

At the end of October, his alleged daughter saw her defamation suit against him tossed by a judge.
