Jessica Simpson opened up about the major change she made when her first marriage, to Nick Lachey, ended in 2006.
The 43-year-old mother-of-three took a trip down memory lane while chatting with Footwear News about her Y2K fashion.
When she was shown a photo from the year of her divorce, she explained what she had been going through at the time.
‘I had short hair, I just chopped it all off. I was going through a divorce and I just said take it all off,’ she told the outlet.
The photos showed the pop star in a short-sleeved purple mini dress as she showed off a straight, platinum blonde bob.

The Texas native added that at the time, she had been doing ‘press for my last pop record that I did.’
Following the high-profile split from Lachey, 50, Jessica put out an album called A Public Affair.
One of the singles was called I Belong to Me, and in the music video there’s a scene in which the songstress acts out chopping off her long tresses.
Nick and Jessica famously wed in 2002 after nearly three years of dating. They did not sign a prenuptial agreement because Jessica believed the marriage was ‘never gonna end.’
Fans were given a front row seat to the former couple’s married life in the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.
The show lasted three seasons and played up Jessica’s ‘dumb blonde’ persona as she navigated the early years of marriage with Nick.
Jessica gave marriage a go again when she married NFL star Eric Johnson after meeting through mutual friends in 2010.
They tied the knot in 2014 and have since welcomed three children: Maxwell, 11, Ace, ten, and Birdie, four.

Nick moved on with his now-wife Vanessa Lachey, with whom he shares three children: Camden John Lachey, 11, Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey, 8, and Phoenix Robert Lachey, 6.
Vanessa and Nick met when she starred in the music video for his breakup song What’s Left of Me, which was penned about Simpson after they ended their four-year marriage.
The duo are now co-hosts of the hit Netflix dating series The Ultimatum.
Last year the former boy band singer took a subtle dig at his ex when he declared, ‘Marriage is always better the second time.’
