Jesy Nelson’s fans have shared their shock at her strikingly different vocals after she finally released her hotly-anticipated new single Bad Thing on Friday.
The singer, 31, made her epic return with her second solo single, after she released Boyz with Nicki Minaj in October 2021 following her split from Little Mix.
But fans were left very surprised after hearing her voice sounding strikingly different from her Little Mix popstar days in the slow and emotional ballad.
Her new track couldn’t be further away from her divisive first solo R&B single Boyz, which also featured Nicki Minaj and was released in October 2021.
Going in a very different direction for her second single, Jesy showed off her vocal range as she sang about a toxic ex-boyfriend in the powerful song.

Another added: ‘Listened to Bad Thing by Jesy Nelson and honestly it’s far more better than Boyz also I was expecting a little R&B with a little beat drop when the chorus hits and not adult contemporary, slow vibes.’
In Bad Thing, Jesy recalls a romance with an ex-boyfriend and being ‘love blind’ through the powerful lyrics.
She sings: ‘Hey, we started at the end, another second chance, to f**k it up again.
‘I know I’m good alone, but you feel just like home. My favourite kind of wrong, familiar as a song.’

In the chorus, she belts: ‘When I’m about to say bye bye, I forget what I cried about last time.
‘Only thing I’m seeing clearly is I’m love blind. I would trade common sense for a good time.
‘Damn, I’ve done a bad thing, I know you’re damaged goods. Is it a bad thing that I wanna treat you good?’
Fans are already going wild over her new single and are eagerly awaiting the release of the music video for Bad Thing, which is slated for release at 3pm on Friday BST.
Jesy has already given fans a glimpse at the upcoming video for Bad Thing, taking to Instagram to share a slew of snaps in which she stunned in an orange miniskirt.
She continued her 1960s-inspired look with a matching halterneck top and platform heels, having styled her brunette locks into a beehive.
In other scenes to accompany the comeback record, Jesy changed into a funky pink top and a white apron as she got up to some baking in the kitchen.
In another short clip from the video, only Jesy’s legs could be seen as she sported bright orange platform heels and knee-high white socks and strutted her stuff.
As melodic music played in the background, she could be seen walking towards a straw chair before the video ended, leaving fans in suspense.
The Move songstress sported a head full of pink hair rollers and was joined by a love interest in other outdoor scenes.
Jesy has independently released her second solo single after parting ways with Polydor in July last year due to ‘creative differences’.
It follows claims that Jesy is about to sign a major new deal with Warner Records.
She is said to be in advanced talks with the label and they will be keeping a close eye on her and fan reaction to the song before offering a deal, according to reports.
Jesy shot to fame with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall as part of The X Factor-winning girl group Little Mix in 2011 but quit the group in 2020.

Jade, 30, has also been in the studio working on her album with help from her Rizzle Kicks star partner Jordan Stephens.
Meanwhile, Perrie, 29, has also been working on solo music but said she does not have a ‘set timeline’ and has been enjoying being able to discover her own sound.
