Commuters will be able to scan QR codes on display screens at Sydney’s Central Station and Melbourne’s Flinders station for a chance to win $10,000 worth of major prizes.

The promotion will run for 24 hours from 6am, with some of the codes redeemable for Jetstar travel credits.

Vouchers valued from $50 to $500 will be up for grabs for those who can ‘catch the JQ17’ as it flies across the big screen at both stations.

Jetstar said one million Australians are expected to come across the campaign on Tuesday.

Those not located in Victoria or New South Wales can follow Jetstar Australia on Facebook or Instagram to join the birthday celebrations.

‘We’re excited to be sharing our birthday celebrations with our customers at a time when demand for leisure travel is at the strongest it’s ever been,’ Jetstar Chief Customer Officer Alan McIntyre said.

‘There’s no doubt there’ll be lots of keen travellers at Flinders Street and Central Stations to snap up these travel vouchers to put towards their next trip.’

The giveaway comes just weeks after the budget airline launched a ‘return for free sale’, giving travel bugs access to 340,000 fares for popular routes across the country, including Melbourne to Sydney and Brisbane to Uluru.

In recent months, Jetstar, Qantas, Virgin and Rex have all been putting on deals as the airlines compete to sell seats on flights.
