Jilted MAFS bridesmaid Mel Lucarelli gets into a screaming match with Nova’s Matt de Groot

Melissa Lucarelli broke down and screamed at Nova 96.9’s Matt De Groot live on-air during an explosive argument over Jules Robinson’s wedding to Cam Merchant.

The former Married At First Sight star lost her cool after Matt attacked her for revealing on Instagram that Jules had dumped her as a bridesmaid.

The situation was made worse by the fact that Matt is a friend of Jules and Cam and had attended their TV wedding, which was broadcast on A Current Affair on Tuesday.

Mel explained that she was shocked to be dumped as a bridesmaid, especially with Jules publicly claiming that the reason was because ‘they hadn’t seen each other’ since MAFS.

‘Literally, I could tell you like 20 times I had seen [Jules] this year, and her other bridesmaids didn’t live in the country, one was interstate,’ she said.

‘You would think that I had done something so wrong to dump someone,’ a stunned Mel added.

Matt then took a dig at the talent agent, claiming that Jules hadn’t known Mel long enough to warrant her being a bridesmaid in the first place.

Co-hosts Michael Wipfli and Sarah McGilvray then pointed out that MAFS star Heidi Latcham, who lives on the Sunshine Coast, had still been made a bridesmaid.

‘I don’t know why I’m getting that kind of reaction from you Matt,’ Mel said, clearly upset.

‘I don’t know why I’m getting that kind of reaction from you Matt,’ raged Mel after she was attacked by the Nova personality 

Matt then brought up how Mel had posted a throwback photo of herself to Instagram with Jules on Sunday, the day that Jules and Cam were married, and confirmed her dumping to her 118,000 followers.

‘Mel, you posted that photo moments after their ceremony for no reason,’ he snapped.

‘You had said your piece, it had been done, and then for no reason you jumped in and posted a photo of the two of you, threw yourself right back into the middle of it at exactly the moment it should have been about them.

‘I just think that it’s really poor to try and make the most of their friendship for your own gain,’ he barked.

Melissa then flew into a rage, crying and unleashing on the Nova personality.

‘You have no thought about how this has affected me and made me feel,’ Mel cried.

‘I was asked on national television, everyone knew, I think that is so rude of you Matt!  I can’t even believe having this discussion with you,’ she continued.

‘Am I just meant to not say anything so that everybody assumes that I did something so bad? Everyone was asking, so I addressed it!

‘Do you want access to my Instagram inbox so you can go through all the messages and answer them all? You’re very rude!’

The brunette beauty then completely broke down in tears, sobbing as she recalled the public humiliation of being dumped and misrepresented in the media.

‘I got dumped for no legitimate reason,’ she cried. ‘Why is Heidi still a bridesmaid when [Jules] didn’t see her? How dare you Matt!’

As the situation heated up, Wippa, Sarah, and Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald all took Mel’s side, claiming that Matt was just sticking up for Jules because of his friendship with her.

‘Female friendships are so much harder than men’s, I don’t care what anyone says,’ Sarah added.

Matt said he was simply ‘surprised’ that Mel had made the feud public, which caused Wippa to jump in and scold him.

‘This whole thing is a public forum, so to be surprised by anything that’s played out publicly is a shock to me, Mel is a friend of the show, find your manners,’ Wippa snapped at Matt.

An emotional Mel finished by reiterating that she’s never been involved in ‘MAFS drama’ before, and that it wasn’t fair for her to be judged for speaking out.

‘I have never ever spoken out about anything, I’ve never been involved in the drama, I’ve never called anyone out or done this, whereas the others…’ she said before her line was abruptly cut off.

She also said that she’d be open to speaking to Jules about the situation so she could get some ‘answers’ and clear the air.
