Jim Harbaugh’s son cries during Michigan game

  • Cameras cut to a young University of Michigan fan crying on Saturday, after the Wisconsin Badgers scored the first touchdown of the game
  • That fan has since been identified as Coach Jim Harbaugh’s son Jack, age five 
  • Jack is the second youngest of Harbaugh’s seven children from two wives 
  • The Badgers went on to beat the Wolverines 24-10 

A young University of Michigan fan who was recorded crying at Saturday’s game against the University of Wisconsin has been identified as Coach Jim Harbaugh’s five-year-old son Jack. 

Cameras cut to the sobbing boy in glasses and a Wolverines beanie after Wisconsin scored their first touchdown of the game. 

The misery only continued for Jack and other Michigan fans, as the Badgers went on to beat the Wolverines 24-10.

The Toledo Blade’s UM beat writer, Kyle Rowland, was the first to identify the sobbing Michigan fan as none other than Coach Harbaugh’s son Jack. 

‘This is Jim Harbaugh’s son. Poor little guy. His friends will remember this when he’s a teenager,’ Rowland tweeted during the game, soon after the clip started going viral. 

Five-year-old Jack is Harbaugh’s second youngest child.

Harbaugh has seven children from two different marriages. From his first wife, he has 28-year-old Jay, 21-year-old James Jr and 17-year-old Grace. 

From his second marriage to wife Sarah he has nine-year-old Addie, seven-year-old Katherine, five-year-old Jack and 10-month-old John.  

Jack is named after his grandfather, who was also a football coach, predominantly at Western Kentucky University. Football runs in the family, Jack’s eldest half-brother is currently working for their father as an assistant coach at Michigan.  

Harbaugh’s youngest was born a month premature last January, at just 4lbs. But he quickly gained strength and was able to leave the neonatal intensive care unit just two and a half weeks later.
