Jimmy Barnes leads ABC’s New Year’s Eve concert in Sydney

It’s the concert that’s been hotly anticipated by Australian music lovers for weeks.

And ABC’s New Year’s Eve Countdown concert surpassed expectations, with rock legends including Jimmy Barnes and Marcia Hines belting out classic hits.

Taking place on Sydney Harbour ahead of the midnight fireworks it wasn’t just the live audience that was rocking out, as viewers at home praised the performances on social media.

 Cold Chisel icon Jimmy began the show with a bang belting out his classic Khe Sanh.

Taking to the stage shortly after was former Australian Idol judge Marcia Hines, who performed tracks including Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees.

Possibly hinting at a comeback in 2018, the disco diva, aged 64, got the crowd dancing as she showcased her impressive skills beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The Boston-born crooner cut a stylish and age-defying figure in a black kaftan.

However, it was Australian Idol alum Casey Donovan who stole the show, smashing out songs such as Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits.

‘Casey Donovan and Marcia Hines were AMAZING!!! More more more’ one viewer tweeted from their living room.

‘You were magnificent my thing for 2018 is get to your gigs because that was awesome!’ another cooed. 

Some of Australia’s hottest talents including Isaiah Firebrace and Kate Cerbrano also performed at the exclusive event.
