Jimmy Weldon, entertainer behind the voice of Yakky Doodle on The Yogi Bear Show, dies at age 99 

Jimmy Weldon, the multi-talented entertainer who lent his voice to Yakky Doodle on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon The Yogi Bear Show, has passed away at the age of 99.

The actor died in Paso Robles, California on Thursday, according to Deadline. 

From 1961 to 1962, Weldon provided the voice of the duckling Yakky Doodle on numerous segments of the The Yogi Bear Show, a role he nabbed after years perfecting a voice first inspired by Donald Duck. 

Weldon’s career in entertainment began after he served in World War II, where he took part in the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp. He served under Gen. George Patton, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

Following his time in the military, he began his career in radio working at a station in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Weldon, who had been doing Donald Duck impressions since he was a youngster, ended up creating the character Webster Webfoot, a duck who spoke on the show.

Eventually, Webster hit the big time, and a television show for children, The Webster Webfoot Show, came to be in Dallas.
