Jo Beth Taylor teases the return of hugely popular Nineties TV show Australia’s Funniest Home Videos

Jo Beth Taylor has teased a reboot of Australia’s Funniest Home Videos.

The 52-year-old rose to fame as host of the variety show in the 1990s, which was a ratings blockbuster for Channel Nine.

She thinks the show’s format would be perfect for the Internet age.

‘With TikTok all the rage, can you imagine the endless array of wild, crazy clips available?’ she said in an interview in New Idea.

‘The show would be seriously hilarious.’

While Jo Beth said the show could ‘absolutely’ return to screens, there are no official plans for a reboot, 

Debuting in 1990, with Australian TV legend Graham Kennedy as host, the show became notorious for showing viewer clips of home made catastrophes.

Mishaps and poolside and trampoline tumbles were particularly popular with viewers.

But it was clips featuring cute pets and baby videos that proved the biggest hits with fans.

‘You’d need to tweak the format to bring back it into the here and now,’ Jo Beth said elsewhere in the chat.

‘Back in my day there were no mobile phone cameras, and viewers were sending in VHS video tapes. But it was such a hoot to host.’

She said her favourite video featured a dog called ‘Wazza’ who could climb into bed.

But now the I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star thinks she is is ‘too old’ to return to host a reboot after leaving the show in 1997.

Jo Beth also hosted Hey Hey It’s Saturday and the kids cartoon show, What’s Up Doc?

In 2010, the mother-of-two appeared on Dancing with the Stars after a career in musical theatre.
