JoAnna Cameron, star of The Secrets of Isis, dies at the age of 70 after suffering a stroke in Hawaii


JoAnna Cameron died after suffering complications following a stroke on Oct. 15. She was 70. 

Her former co-star, Joanna Pang Atkins, revealed the news on Twitter Sunday afternoon and confirmed her passing. 

‘Sad to post that JoAnna Cameron “The Mighty Isis” has flown to heaven,’ Atkins wrote. ‘She suffered a stroke and passed away from complications this past Friday. We shared the wonderful lasting experience of making “The Secrets of Isis”. May she RIP.’

Cameron had been living in Hawaii for years and enjoyed her life away from the spotlight. 

The Secrets of Isis ran from 1975-1976 and helped establish female superheroes on television screens.

In the series, Cameron portrayed a young high-school science teacher named Andrea Thomas who discovered an enchanted amulet while she was in Egypt that originally belonged to the ancient pharaoh Queen Hatshepsut.

Through the amulet and Thomas’ unknown familial ties to Hatshepsut, Andrea learns how to use her new super-human powers to fight crime throughout 22 episodes of the show.

Cameron, a model and actress, found fame after befriending Bob Hope’s daughter Linda in college.  

Her big break came when he cast her in the 1969 comedy How to Commit to Marriage.

She also thrived with a commercial career, and appeared on The Merv Griffin Show to discuss how she at one point held the record in the Guinness Book of World Records for having done the most commercials.
