Joao Felix’s future at Atletico Madrid has been cast into further doubt after the forward held ‘tense’ talks with club chiefs, according to reports.

The Portugal international spent the second half of last season on loan with Premier League giants Chelsea, where he made 20 appearances in all competitions.

Despite a relatively satisfying spell on an individual note, the Blues decided against pursuing a permanent deal for Felix, whose time in London now looks to have jeopardised his place in Diego Simeone’s Atletico side.

Last week it was confirmed that the 23-year-old’s No 7 shirt – which he’d worn last season – was given to returning star Antoine Griezmann.

And, on Monday, the forward was spotted training with Atletico’s academy side after being frozen out of first-team plans by Simeone.

Now there are further developments ahead of Felix’s potential exit after the forward reportedly held ‘tense’ talks with the club’s sporting director.

According to Relevo, the Portugal international was seen holding an intense conversation with Andrea Berta after the side’s training session.

Both men, reportedly, were animated figures as they conversed over Felix’s future with the Spanish giants.

The 23-year-old has spent four years at Atletico since making his £113million move from Benfica back in 2019.

Since then, he’s scored 34 goals in 131 appearances but failed to become a consistent starter within Simeone’s system.

Atletico are at a camp in San Rafael, Segovia, for one week, half the time they would usually spend there due to their upcoming tours of South Korea and North America.

As talks of an exit continue, Felix has reportedly set his eyes on PSG, with manager Luis Enrique keen to prise the 23-year-old away from Civitas Metropolitano

According to Relevo, Luis Enrique wants to make Felix his first signing as PSG manager.

If he did bring in Felix, it may help to fill a gap left by Lionel Messi’s recent exit to MLS side Inter Miami.

They also report the Portugal international will not stay in Madrid next season, and that his agent Jorge Mendes is believed to have a good relationship with the club,
