Joe Biden’s daily routine: President, 78, lifts WEIGHTS, eats cookies and calls Hunter every day

Joe Biden is a creature of habit and starts most mornings by lifting weights and watching either CNN’s New Day or MSNBC’s Morning Joe, a report revealed Monday.

While the 78-year-old president lives a generally healthy lifestyle and is typically regimented, he does have quite a sweet tooth.

According to interviews by The Washington Post with seven people familiar with Biden’s daily routine, some of his favorite treats are orange Gatorade and chocolate chip cookies.

‘He has the tastes of a 5-year-old,’ a longtime Biden adviser told the Post.

Biden has stocked the outer Oval Office with individually wrapped chocolate chip cookies and salt water taffy from Dolle’s, a boardwalk shop in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware – where he has a vacation home.

Despite morning workout sessions, aides described the president as a ‘night owl.’ He usually returns to the White House residence around 6-7 p.m. He also holds calls with advisers after dinner.

Every night before bedtime, the president phones his son Hunter, who has struggled with addiction. If he doesn’t answer the call, President Biden will text him.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki wouldn’t share details of Biden’s exercise regime during her briefing on Monday, but joked that it is ‘sometimes hard to keep up with him’.

The Washington Post released a report giving an inside look on Joe Biden’s daily routine, including the 78-year-old working out with weights every morning. Above is a picture of Biden as vice president in March 2015 doing bicep curls to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the ‘Let’s Move’ campaign

She also wouldn’t say whether he decided against bringing his beloved Peloton bike into the residence over cybersecurity concerns.

Throughout the day, Biden is known for going out to the South Lawn or Rose Garden for fresh air with his German shepherds, Champ and Major.

The president is also known for his love of ice cream and has been repeatedly pictured over the years indulging in a cone.

He begins his mornings with a workout that usually involves some sort of weight lifting. He also regularly meets with a trainer, the Post noted.

During the campaign, Biden was seen several times out and about riding his bike.

There were security concerns over Biden bringing the Peloton him, which were only further exacerbated earlier this month when it was revealed users’ private data including their age, workout statistics and weight were exposed by a bug in the software.

After working out, Biden receives ‘The Bulletin’, a compilation of morning news clips, in the White House residence.

He then walks to the Oval Office where he and Vice President Kamala Harris receive the closed-door Daily Intelligence Briefing.

Biden meets with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin or Secretary of State Antony Blinken at least once a week – and regularly checks in with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley.

Also weekly, Biden has lunch with Harris – a tradition he carried on from his time as Barack Obama’s No. 2.

Biden’s lunch is usually a salad with grilled chicken and a soup with either an orange Gatorade or Coke Zero. When entering the White House Biden got rid of the red button on the Resolute Desk that Trump used to summon a Diet Coke.

When on the go, Biden usually brings along a protein bar, peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich and a travel-sized orange Gatorade.

Delaware Democratic Senator Chris Coons told the Post that the travel pack is ‘not quite a lunch pail, but it’s his little bag of stuff, so if he gets peckish in a meeting he can have something healthy.’

Biden’s schedule can appear notably light compared to the previous administration.

He usually only has one or two brief public appearances each day and has some sporadic travel with most travel being trips to his family home in Wilmington, Delaware. Biden has already spent nine weekends as president there.

Many days of the week, Biden has a meeting with his top advisors including Chief of Staff Ron Klain, Mike Donilon, Anita Dunn, Bruce Reed, Steve Ricchetti and Cedric Richmond where he airs things he wants to discuss and aides can bring up their own topics for his consideration.

‘There are very few issues that get to the level of the president,’ Dunn said, according to the Post. ‘Those are the ones that only he can make a decision on.’
