President Joe Biden’s granddaughter Maisy has shared a candid glimpse into life at the White House – before she jetted off to Spain with her grandmother, First Lady Jill Biden, ahead of the president’s upcoming NATO meeting.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, the 21-year-old art major – who is the youngest daughter of the president’s son, Hunter Biden and his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle – shared a series of snaps from her recent visit to the White House, giving her followers a rare inside look at what it’s really like to stay in the president’s palace.
One picture showed her grandmother, 71, standing outside of a big, arched door while looking down at her phone; the first lady donned white sweatpants and a long-sleeve T-shirt in the snap.

Other photos from her trip to Washington, D.C. showed Maisy – who is currently studying fine art at the University of Pennsylvania – hanging out with friends, going for a bike ride around the city, and protesting the Senate’s recent overturning of the Roe v. Wade ruling.
She spent time at the White House before flying to Madrid, Spain, with her older sister Finnegan, 22, and her grandmother.
The ladies arrived on Sunday evening ahead of Joe, 79, who is set to come Tuesday for the North Atlantic Treaty summit.
According to Jill, she and her two granddaughters had a girls night after their arrival in Spain – staying up late having a glass of wine together.
‘I brought my two granddaughters,’ the first lady told Spanish Queen Letizia while visiting her at the Palacio de la Zarzuela on Monday. ‘We stayed up and had a glass of wine.’

Maisy and Finnegan didn’t attend the event with Jill, who explained that they were waiting for her back at the U.S. embassy.
She also visited the Spanish Association Against Cancer before taking some time out of her busy day to go on a shopping spree with Maisy and Finnegan – visiting several stores in the Spanish capital.
Joe married Neilia Hunter Biden in 1942, and together, they welcomed three kids together – Beau, Hunter, and Naomi Biden – but tragedy struck in December 1972, when Neilia got into a tragic car accident, killing herself and Naomi. He then married Jill in 1977, and she gave birth to a daughter, Ashley Biden, in 1981.
The president has seven grandkids in total – Naomi, 27, Finnegan, and Maisy – Hunter and Kathleen’s children – Beau, two – Hunter’s son with his second wife, Melissa Cohen – as well as Natalie, 17, and Robert Hunter Biden II, 16 – the children of the late Beau, who passed away from a brain tumor in 2015.
Hunter is also the dad to another child, whose identity is not known, from his previous relationship with a woman named Lunden Roberts.

‘Every single day, I speak to all of my grandkids. Either on the phone, or I text with them,’ he told CNN at the time.
He added of what they like to do when they come and visit, ‘We sit on our back porch and they sit out on the lawn with two chairs there, and we talk about everything that is going on in their day, and talk about being home from school, and who’s driving whom crazy, and so on.’
His grandkids are often spotted accompanying him at events, and back in March, Maisy was pictured by his side when he traveled to Philadelphia to speak at the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference.
Maisy, who is an aspiring artist, often showcases her work on her Instagram account, where she has only a few thousand followers.
Until now, she has hardly ever posted things involving her family, but in November 2020, she did share a snap from inside the president’s private plane.
The student is close friends with former President Barack Obama’s younger daughter, Sasha, 21, and they played on the same basketball team growing up, which was coached by Barack himself.
