Joe Biden’s son Hunter secretly marries a South African woman last month

Joe Biden’s son Hunter has been a married man for nearly a month, secretly tying the knot with a South African activist, pictured exclusively by DailyMail.com.

Hunter Biden, 49, wed Melissa Cohen in Los Angeles in mid-May, just weeks after reports surfaced he had called it quits with his late brother Beau’s widow Hallie Biden in April.

Cohen is an activist, traveling to Africa and Indonesia to support indigenous tribes, and now lives in Los Angeles.

Her brother declined to comment on the happy couple’s nuptials when contacted by DailyMail.com.

The hasty vows in California plus a recent breakup hint that presidential hopeful Joe Biden and the rest of the Biden family were not in attendance for the big day.

On Sunday, Jill Biden posted a family photo celebrating Hunter’s daughter Maisy’s graduation from high school in Washington D.C., but absent from the group shot was Hunter’s new wife.

TMZ was the first to report the marriage, saying they had used an instant marriage company.

A friend of Cohen said she lived in Los Angeles and the newlyweds met in May, having a whirlwind romance, even getting matching tattoos, they told E! News.

Jill Biden wrote: ‘When I’m around my grandchildren, I remember how incredible life can be…congrats Maisy! Beyond proud and filled with joy to see you graduate today.’

There was no sight of Cohen.

Hunter dated widowed Hallie for two years following Beau’s death from brain cancer in 2015.

At the beginning of their relationship, Hunter was still married to his then-wife Kathleen, though they had been estranged. That divorce was finalized in April 2017.

In late April, it was reported Hunter split from Hallie, coming on the heels of Joe’s presidential campaign announcement.

Sources say the breakup was ‘amicable’ but the reason behind the split remains unknown, according to Page Six.

In 2016, Biden said he didn’t run for president because he was grieving over Beau’s death and was notably mum on his son Hunter’s tawdry affair that tarnished his family’s wholesome reputation.

Two years after Beau’s death, Hallie began to rub shoulders with Beau’s lawyer younger brother Hunter.

Earlier this year, Hunter opened up to Vanity Fair saying his personal life would not affect his father’s White House bid.

Hunter and Hallie began dating after the death of her husband Beau Biden – former Vice President Joe Biden’s elder son. Then in 2017 she began to date Beau’s brother Hunter who was still married to his then-wife Kathleen (pictured together right in 2016)

‘Even though my life has been played out in the media, because I am a Biden, my father never once suggested that the family’s public profile should be my priority.

‘The priority has always been clear for my dad, as it is, now, for me: Never run from a struggle. Love people and find a way to love yourself,’ he said.

‘My father has always been proud of me — whether when I was volunteering for the Jesuits, or working as a lawyer . . . And he remains proud of me today. He loves me.

‘And he loves the American people far too much to let any form of adversity stand in the way of service,’ Hunter said in a statement in January.

On Sunday, Joe Biden and Jill turned up to attend Maisy Biden’s graduation from Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C, where Sasha Obama was also graduating from.

Joe and Jill were spotted sitting in the stands, as where Barack Obama, Michelle and Malia.
