Joe Sugg ‘makes history’ as he banks £201,000 on The Chase Celebrity Special leaving host Bradley Walsh SPEECHLESS

Joe Sugg nearly made history as he banked £201,000 on The Chase Celebrity Special on Saturday, leaving host Bradley Walsh speechless.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, 32, who reached the final in 2018, joined Myles Stephenson, David James and Lucrezia Millarini in a hope to raise money for charity.

Joe managed to get £8,000 in his cash builder round before he went head-to-head with Paul Sinha, also known as the Sinnerman.

After a positive round, Joe was then offered to take either a low offer of £1,000 or a high offer of £201,000.

Joe teased: ‘If I go for the [the high offer] it could make a viral moment, which is a good thing. It’d be an incredible amount for charity as well.’

After picking the higher offer, Joe managed to get multiple questions correct in his round.

Bradley said: ‘I wish you luck. You’re gonna make history here, mate. If you go though you’re making history.

He added: ‘We’re gonna go viral. I better stand next to you if you’re gonna go through! Come on, good luck.’

Joe bumped the prize fund up to £213,000 for the final group round alongside Myles and David – after Lucrezia was eliminated.

The trio answered 18 questions correctly but were caught out by the chaser who had 30 seconds left on his timer.

Despite the group losing out on winning the lump sum of money for charity, they all received £1,000 each to give to their selected charity.

Last year, Joe shared a sweet message to his girlfriend Dianne Buswell following her Strictly Come Dancing defeat.

The professional dancer, 34, – who was partnered with EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, 20, on the show – lost out to Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola who won the competition.

And sharing how proud he was of Dianne, Joe took to Instagram to praise the dancer for working so hard on another Strictly series.

He wrote: ‘Couldn’t be more proud of you @diannebuswell. you have turned @bobbybrazier into the finest ballroom and Latin dancer.

‘Every 5am Monday morning dropping you off at the station with bright eyes and a smile on your face, eager to teach and produce brilliant choreography every week.

‘You may not have won the trophy, but you won the nation’s heart last night and over the course of the series and really showed everyone what you can achieve.

‘Also massive thank you to @kimwinston for another year of the podcast. An absolute pleasure as always.’
