Joel Creasey reveals how he managed to trick his friends into thinking he had landed a MAJOR film role alongside Chris Hemsworth

He’s had to keep his new Nova radio gig under wraps for some time.

And on Friday, Joel Creasey revealed that his friends were convinced he had signed on for a major film role, after he refused to tell them what his secret project was.

Appearing on The Project, the 30-year-old comedian told co-hosts Lisa Wilkinson and Tommy Little: ‘Yes, it’s been such a hard secret to keep.’

‘Conveniently, Thank you Channel 10 for programming The Masked Singer at a similar time,’ he continued.

The funny-man explained many of his followers were convinced that he was the famous face behind The Wizard on the zany television show.

‘The clues for the wizard sounded like me, and then The Wizard opened his mouth and he can sing and I cannot,’ he said.

The Australian funny-man went on to say, ‘I stupidly mentioned I will be in Sydney to another friend. They asked, “What for?” And I said, “I can’t tell you.’

‘After an hour later, my mate texted me and said, “Are you on the new Thor film because that’s in Sydney?”

‘And I said, “Yeah.’ And so my mate is thinking, “What gay-a***d role is written in for Joel?’ he laughed off.

It comes as Nova announced Joel would replace Marty Sheargold after 10 years on radio next month.

In an official statement released on Friday, Joel said in his trademark humour: ‘Naturally when you think of a logical replacement for Marty Sheargold, you go “Joel Creasey”.

‘As a fan of the show, I’m not entirely sure what the team do all day… but it sounds so much fun and I want in. I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the national drive show alongside Kate and Tim, who I’ve shared many a beverage with over the years.’
