John Bishop and Damian Lewis face SIX-hour delay following Champions League Final – after the shocking treatment which took place at the game

John Bishop and Damian Lewis kept their fans entertained over the weekend, despite facing a six-hour plane delay following the Champions League Final.

Travel disruption was the last thing the retired footballer, 55, and actor Damian, 51, needed after watching their team Liverpool lose to Real Madrid at the Stade de France, Paris, but the pair made light of the situation on social media by updating their respective followers with fun selfies.

Beer in hand, comedian John wrote to his Twitter followers: ‘I managed to get a seat on a club charter flight from Paris. This felt like a win when I got on with @lewis_damian. More than 5 hours later and we have not moved I wish I had got the train #c**pweekend.’

Homeland star Damian also took to the microblogging site, calling John a ‘top lad’ before informing fans they’d been stuck on the tarmac for six hours.

Alongside snaps of the pair larking around, he wrote: ‘day 2 in the Big Brother house’, to which John quipped: ‘You can see the cracks in our relationship developing ….’

Later on, the duo sat in the cockpit, maintaining high spirits despite their frustrating circumstances.

Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final but the result effectively became inconsequential given the widespread reports of shocking behaviour by French police at the Stade de France, coupled with abysmal organisation and UEFA’s misinformation.

The French interior minister blamed ‘thousands of British ‘supporters’ without tickets or with counterfeit tickets’ for the horrific scenes outside the Stade de France.

Kick-off was delayed by 36 minutes as a dangerous situation developed outside the Stade de France in Paris as thousands of Liverpool fans were crushed and teargassed by police.

UEFA initially blamed supporters arriving late at the stadium for the shambolic scenes at entrance gates but later attributed the issues to fans trying to gain access with fake tickets, which caused delays.
