John Farnham reunites with Olivia Newton-John at Fire Fight Australia… and allows Mitch Tambo the honour of performing his hit You’re The Voice in his indigenous language

John Farnham reunited with Olivia Newton-John at the Fire Fight Australia bushfire relief concert in Sydney on Sunday.

The 70-year-old performed three songs and a duet with the Grease star, before allowing Mitch Tambo the honour of joining him to deliver a rendition of his legendary hit You’re The Voice.

Mitch received a standing ovation as he sang the iconic lyrics in his indigenous Gamilaraay language.

Mitch, who starred on the 2019 season of Australia’s Got Talent, gave his all as John happily stepped back to allow him the honour of covering his beloved hit.  

Proving to be a song to remember, John, Olivia and Mitch were also joined on stage by Queen’s guitarist Brian May, 72. 

John also pleased his dedicated fans by performing his popular tracks Pressure Down, That’s Freedom, Age Of Reason, as well as Two Strong Hearts with Olivia, 71.

Olivia looked radiant as she emerged on stage in a casual chic ensemble, finished off with perfectly styled blonde tresses and an understated makeup palette.

In a heartfelt moment, a number of male and female firefighters were also ushered on stage, in order to be recognised for their efforts. 

The 10-hour charity event resulted in $9.5million raised for bushfire relief efforts.

Comedian Celeste Barber was chosen to host the televised event after she raised a staggering $52million for Australia’s rural firefighters through a campaign on Facebook.

The event featured other artists including 5 Seconds of Summer, Michael Buble, Alice Cooper, Baker Boy, Conrad Sewell, Daryl Braithwaite, Delta Goodrem, Illy, Grinspoon, Guy Sebastian, Hilltop Hoods and k.d. lang.  

Australia’s bushfire season arrived early in October 2019, resulting in 28 deaths, and more than 2,000 homes destroyed.

It’s been estimated that over a billion animals have died across the country.
