So how did John Goodman lose 200lbs? As Roseanne star hits red carpet in smart tux in France, a look inside his new regimen
John Goodman showed off his newly svelte physique as he attended The Golden Nymphs event in Monte-Carlo on Tuesday.
The Emmy-winning actor looked dapper on the red carpet in a fitted black suit and bowtie.
The 70-year-old actor – who has lost an incredible 200lbs over the years – was freshly shaven and styled his short hair parted to the side.
The comedian vowed to overhaul his lifestyle and lose weight in 2007.
And Goodman proved that he’d stuck to his plan as he displayed his much slimmer physique in Monaco over the weekend and attended the 62nd Monte Carlo TV Festival, where he served as the jury president.

The Rosanne star started his journey in 2007 when he stopped drinking, but his trainer then took him to a new weight loss and fitness level.
According to his trainer, he introduced the star to a ‘Mediterranean-style eating plan’ that focuses on fish, nuts, olive oil, vegetables, and fruit.
John also exercises six days a week, taking 10,000 to 12,000 steps daily and using an elliptical bicycle and treadmill.
The actor has always been open about his love of food, saying to People: ‘It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your a*s and figure out what you’re going to eat next.’
In 2016, John told Howard Stern: ‘I took it slow. I just wanted to change my lifestyle.’
He explained that his new way of living is ‘an ongoing process for the rest of my life.’
The star revealed that he previously would look in the mirror every day and think: ‘I gotta deal with this the rest of the day, I gotta deal with this schmuck?”
The following year he told ABC of his weight loss: ‘In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits.’
However, he decided he was really going to be disciplined this time and do things differently.

‘This time, I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.’
As part of his lifestyle overhaul, the actor ditched alcohol and, in 2018, told AARP: ‘It was basically just portion control, and I don’t need it. I was just shoving everything into my mouth.’
Speaking about his alcohol addiction, John told Rolling Stone magazine: ‘All that anger was fueled by fear, and the drinking was because it was fun.
‘But I was probably born an alcoholic. But most of the anger’s gone. If I don’t watch the news, I’m cool.’
