John Legend is developing a new reality series based on a South Korean hit show that puts a musical spin on the traditional dating show.
The 40-year-old EGOT winner is developing Love At First Song for American Idol producer Simon Lythgoe and his Legacy Productions, according to Deadline.
Legend will executive produce through his Get Lifted Film Co. though it isn’t known if he will have a role in front of the camera as well.

Love at First Song originally debuted at Vietnam’s VT3 on January 14, 2018, debuting as the top show in their time slot.
The show is a mix of a reality competition show and a dating show, creating couples out of single singers.
The singers ‘virtually’ rehearse a romantic duet song before revealing themselves to each other during the first performance.
The couples will go on to live together and continue to rehearse and perform together, with a big twist.

Each week, they can decide whether or not they want to swap partners, either for romantic or professional reasons.
The project is part of an agreement Legend’s Get Lifted came to with Critical Content, with Critical Content’s Tom Forman and Jenny Daly executive producing with Get Lifted’s Mike Jackson, John Legend and Ty Stiklorius, and Lythgoe.
‘Love at First Song is really the best of two great genres: performance and dating, as contestants literally fall in love and make heartbreaking decisions during their duets,’ said Forman and Daly.

‘It’s the perfect format to come from a love song legend like John, plus a producer like Simon with a proven record of launching both hit shows and huge acts,’ they added.
‘There’s almost nothing more compelling than watching two vocalists with chemistry sing a love song together on stage,’ said Jackson in his statement.
‘More importantly, Love at First Song has the potential to launch the next great duo like Tim & Faith, Sonny & Cher or Jay Z & Beyoncé,’ Lythgoe later added.
