John Legend eviscerates Donald Trump after he compares impeachment proceedings to a ‘lynching’

John Legend did not hold back as he unleashed on President Donald Trump for comparing the impeachment process to a ‘lynching’ in a post on Twitter.

Legend said Tuesday: ‘He’s a despicable human being, and he says sh***y things all the time.’ .

He continued: ‘(He’s) just a sh****y person. Every day he’s the opposite of what you would want your child to be.’

Legend, who was speaking to Neal Katyal, former Acting Solicitor General of the United States, onstage during ‘Legend Has It: Activism and Influence in the Age of Trump’ at Vanity Fair’s 6th Annual New Establishment Summit in Beverly Hills, then went on to spell out why an impeachment is not like a lynching.

‘[Lynching] is the exact opposite of what impeachment is. Impeachment is laid out in the Constitution,’ explained the singer.

‘There’s nothing extra-legal about this process.’

Legend later offered up why he thought President Trump made this remark.

‘He contrasts [impeachment] with what lynching was, nasty and evil,’ said Legend.

‘Driven by hate, fear, mob mentality. It’s despicable!’

Legend also addressed President Trump’s attack on his family and wife Chrissy Teigen.

‘He called her a filthy mouthed wife and didn’t @ her,’ explained Legend.

‘She, in her own inimitable way, called him out on that and told him exactly what he is.’

In September Trump slammed ‘boring’ Legend and his ‘filthy mouthed wife’ Teigen for stealing all of his credit for new criminal justice reforms in a late-night Twitter war.

The president was having what Teigen called a ‘meltdown’ when he took aim at the couple.

President Donald Trump called out John Legend and his ‘filthy mouthed wife’ Chrissy Teigen in a series of tweets that claim the stars are stealing his credit for new criminal justice reforms

His Twitter was on September 8 followed Lester Holt’s NBC Nightly News segment about criminal justice reform.

The special featured Legend, who is the founder of FREEAMERICA, an organization that raises awareness for criminal justice reform.

‘When all of the people pushing so hard for Criminal Justice Reform were unable to come even close to getting it done, they came to me as a group and asked for my help. I got it done with a group of Senators & others who would never have gone for it. Obama couldn’t come close,’ Trump wrote in the first tweet.

‘A man named @VanJones68 and many others, were profusely grateful (at that time!). I SIGNED IT INTO LAW, no one else did, & Republicans deserve much credit. But now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise. Guys like boring…..

‘….musician @johnlegend and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is – but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed. “Anchor”@LesterHoltNBC doesn’t even bring up the subject of President Trump or the Republicans when talking about…’ the president continued.

Trump did not mention Teigen by name nor did he tag Teigen, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump for nearly a decade, in his tweets.

Teigen and Legend immediately responded to Trump’s tweets.

‘Imagine being president of a whole country and spending your Sunday night hate-watching MSNBC hoping somebody–ANYBODY–will praise you. Melania, please praise this man. He needs you,’ Legend wrote.

‘Your country needs you, Melania,’ Legend continued before sharing a GIF of the first lady and Justin Trudeau with the caption: ‘Ah yes, Melania is otherwise occupied. My apologies, @realDonaldTrump.’
