John Legend films his politically charged anti-Trump video

Outspoken Trump critic, John Legend filmed his new politically charged music video on Monday in Los Angeles after controversy over casting for it erupted over the weekend.

Legend, who looks dapper for the shoot, was said to have put out a casting call for white and ‘out of shape’ actors who are willing to play Donald Trump supporters.

A story broke Sunday which pointed to a casting call for Legend’s music video, however Legend claims that although he is not a Trump supporter by any stretch, he did not ask for out of shape actors to play Trump supporters.

The video depicts a rally scene, something very familiar to the American public since President Trump took office in January. This actor carrying an 'alt-right delete' sign is a nod to the fatal rally in Charlottesville, Virginia

Legend took to Twitter to clarify the issue: ‘There’s a casting call out there claiming to represent me looking for “out of shape” Trump supporters. This didn’t come from me or my team.’

Of course he would not let the issue go by the wayside without taking a shot at the commander in chief: ‘I still think Trump is awful and whoever voted for him did a disservice to the country. But I didn’t issue this casting call.’

Legend further clarified that he would be shooting a political scene for the video on Monday. DailyMail.com has obtained photos and videos from the shoot.

Legend has been a strong critic of the president since he was elected last November.

In May he told TMZ that Trump is ‘manifestly unqualified’ to be president and that he ‘can’t say anything nice’ about him.

Legend, who backed Clinton during the election, was asked about his opinions on the new president and he didn’t mince words.

‘I think he’s a terrible president. He’s manifestly unqualified, not curious, not good at legislating or doing anything that his job requires.’

Most recently, Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen slammed Trump on Twitter after he launched an angry defense of his performance in the wake of the Charlottesville riots and doubled down on a claim there was bigotry on both sides during the violent incident.

One of Trump’s most vocal celebrity critics, Teigen, blasted the president for his comments. The mother-of-one tweeted: ‘Trump is like, actually racist. He isn’t ‘saying the wrong thing’. He is actually racist and means this. Holy s*** lol what a f***ing idiot’.

Shortly after her tweet, her husband made clear his disdain for Trump.

‘One of the most transparent lies Trump told today is that he likes to wait for the facts before he makes a statement. Hahahahahaahaha’, Legend wrote.
