‘Suddenly I saw a bright light in the sky’: Johnny Vaughan recalls ‘spooky’ moment he saw an ‘alien’ while driving home from a football match

Johnny Vaughan has recounted an extraordinary alien encounter he had with friends while stuck in traffic on the M1 on Lorraine.

The radio presenter, 56, joined Christine Lampard on ITV this morning to speak about his new podcast Alien Kidnap Club.

The former Capital Breakfast host opened up about strange lights that he saw shooting across the sky a few years ago during his own extraterrestrial experience.

He said: ‘I was driving in the car, I was coming back from a football match and we hit a traffic jam on the M1, and I was in the passenger set and I was looking out the window just beyond the hard shoulder, I don’t know what its called. I call it the green sleeve.

‘Suddenly I saw this bright light, like the size of a dustbin lid. It was made of light, and it was swooping around, it went right up, right up and it had light coming off it in all directions.

‘This was about 7pm on a late spring evening, so kind of dusk, period between sunset and darkness, and suddenly it shot up, the fastest thing I have ever seen.

‘I turned around to my friend Ben and I used some colourful language which I won’t repeat.

‘We don’t really talk about it that much but when we do it is quite spooky.’

Revealing her own strange experience, host Christine explained she once spotted bright lights that hovered above her house.

She said: ‘I remember one night my and I seeing three stars in the shape of a triangle and they were almost vibrating on themselves and they sat there for about a half an hour and we thought oh that’s really strange.

‘And then these three stars just shot off. I’m not saying, “Oh that’s aliens”… If someone was to say to me, “Oh that an RAF experiment”, I would say, “Oh well that fine” but I saw what I saw.’

Johnny also spoke about his new podcast in which he talks to members of the public about their alien encounters.

In a series of six exclusive interviews on the podcast, Johnny sits down and listens to abductees who claim alien contact has changed their lives forever.

Some of them believe they are aliens, that they are infinite and that they cannot die, while others say they can travel between alternate realities and have visited the centre of the sun.

Saying he wanted to give people a platform to tell ‘their truth’, he explained he is not their to ‘pick apart’ their experiences.

He said: ‘The podcast has the starting point of these people are not liers, they believe what they have seen that’s the most important thing, they believe it.

‘I just wanted to give them a platform to tell their truth, that’s it really.

Speaking about one man that he interviewed for the podcast who remembers seeing a bright light in his room when he was seven years old, he said: ‘We are so sceptical about these people.

‘We sort of think they must be lying but would they think “I am going to lie for the rest of my life”? I just don’t think people do that.’

All episodes will be available to listen to on Global Player from 15 Wednesday and all available podcast platforms every Wednesday.
