Just before late actor Johnny Wactor was honored at the Daytime Emmy Awards, his General Hospital on-screen wife Sofia Mattsson shared her thoughts about the loss.
Wactor was walking a co-worker to her car after a late-night bar shift in downtown Los Angeles when he confronted a group of thieves stealing his catalytic converter.
The 37-year-old actor was gunned down while trying to protect his co-worker and passed from his injuries.
During the Daytime Emmy Awards, Mattsson, opened up to People about the loss of her co-star.
‘We shared so many great memories, so many tears and laughter on and off screen,’ she told People on Friday.

When asked what he was like as a person, Mattsson said, ‘He’s so helpful. He just helps supporting everyone. He knows everyone’s name.’
‘He’s just friendly with everyone. He is super, super goofy. And just always made you laugh, and made you feel so comfortable and at home,’ she added.
Mattson played Sasha Corbin on General Hospital, the wife of Wactor’s Brando Corbin, as she recalled one of her favorite set memories.
‘But I really loved when we had a storyline when we lost our baby, because that was just something we really went through together,’ she said.
‘And it was so beautiful, watching him make the reality of becoming a father, to a reality for himself,’ she added.
‘So that was really just cool to see, how much he just dived into that role, and made it real for himself,’ Mattsson continued.
After Wactor’s passing, Mattson took to Instagram to send a tribute on social media as well.
‘My heart is so utterly broken… Johnny was the absolute best. So genuine. So caring. Incredibly hard working and humble,’ she began.
