Johnson Wagner emulates Bryson DeChambeau’s stunning US Open bunker shot with the man himself watching on – and he hilariously hands over the trophy!

Johnson Wagner may have had the best chip of his life live on Golf Channel as part of his ‘Live From’ segment after the conclusion of the US Open.

That nationwide audience included US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, who had the best view, from inside the infamous bunker on hole No 18 at Pinehurst.

It was from that same sand trap that DeChambeau all but clinched his second major-championship victory hours prior. The LIV Golfer had his penultimate shot of the tournament dribble near the pin and settled a few feet away.

Golf fans knew right then Wagner would have to try to re-create the amazing approach later that evening.

To get the ball up over the ledge of the bunker, and down quick enough to leave an easy putt is a difficult task, evidenced by Wagner’s first attempt out of the sand, which he believed may have landed near the Pinehurst clubhouse.

Before Wagner could get in another stroke, DeChambeau rolled up to the bunker in his golf cart with the US Open Trophy in hand.

Wagner discussed DeChambeau’s victory with the US Open Champion before getting a few pointers on how to best approach the tough chip before lining up his second attempt.

With DeChambeau mere yards away, Wagner gave it a whack, with the LIV Golfer realizing quicker that Wagner’s shot was a beauty.

Once the ball rested, it was closer to the pin than DeChambeau’s was during the tournament.

Once Wagner realized his achievement, he was jubilant and gave DeChambeau a forceful high-five.

After tossing his wedge elsewhere in the bunker DeChambeau let Wagner hold his US Open Championship trophy for pictures, as if the host hit the amazing shot in a high-pressure moment.

‘I guess I’m never going to win the US Open now that I touched it,’ Wagner said of taking pictures with DeChambeau’s trophy.

To end the segment, Wagner asked DeChambeau for a drink, which the US Open champion graciously accepted.
