Channel 4 News anchor Jon Snow was filmed as he hacked off a bike chain with bolt cutters after he found a child’s bike blocking his own while he rushed to an interview.
The 70-year-old cycling advocate and TV personality wielded the giant bolt cutters as he approached the obstructing vehicle – a child’s bike chained to his own outside the ITN studios in London.
Wearing a suit and cycling helmet, he then bent down to hack off the chain which was tying the small bike to his own.
But the considerate presenter bought a replacement lock for the other bike, which is believed to be owned by a child.
Channel 4 confirmed to The Sun that the newsreader successfully managed to hack through the lock – and even replaced it.
Head of Communications Hayley Barlow told Sun Online: ‘Jon had left the studio because he had an interview to get to but when he got to the bike rack, he discovered a child had chained both bikes together in error.
‘He managed to get access to some bolt-cutters and cut the chain. Jon then went to a local bike shop and bought a new chain.
‘He used that on the child’s bike to chain it to the railings and put a note on it saying the key had been left in a safe place with instructions on where to find it.
‘Jon even managed to make it to his interview on time.’
