Jordan Chiles gifted bronze clock by rapper Flava Flav at VMAs… a month after her Olympic medal heartbreak

Famous rapper and reality television star Flava Flav presented Team USA gymnast Jordan Chiles with a bronze clock during Wednesday night’s Video Music Awards.

The move comes around a month after Chiles’ individual bronze medal from the Paris Olympics was taken away from her because of a Romanian appeal.

To present the first award of the evening, Chiles and Flava Flav were co-presenters.

Flava Flav quickly placed the bronze clock around Chiles neck to the massive cheers of the UBS Arena crowd after a quick speech.

‘I know they tried to your medal away from you,’ Flava Flav said to the crowd booing. ‘I got you something that they cant take away from you.’

On Aug. 12, Flava Flav originally made the offer to make Chiles a bronze clock, part of his usual outfits after she was stripped of her Olympic medal.

The controversy surrounding Chiles erupted when the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled she had been unjustly moved up from fifth place as the result of a United States inquiry.

The court claimed the American inquiry was lodged four seconds too late, therefore, Chiles scored should not have been raised and she should have not touched the podium.

USA gymnastics has filed an appeal of the decision, with an official timestamped statement showing the inquiry was made within the one-minute parameter.

Chiles was stripped of the medal five days after winning it, while a Team USA appeal was unsuccessful.

Many gymnastics fans have blasted the decision to strip Chiles of the medal over a minor detail, with the gymnast herself taking a break from social media due to the negative attention she received.

Chiles won a gold medal with the United States during the team competition in Paris and is also a silver medalist from the Tokyo Olympics in the same event.
