  • Harry Kane’s future remains up in the air at Tottenham amid rumours of an exit
  • But Jose Mourinho has insisted that talisman Kane ‘has to be happy’ currently
  • Kane has been heavily tipped to leave due to his desire to win trophies soon

Jose Mourinho has insisted Harry Kane ‘has to be happy’ at Tottenham despite the club’s struggles this season.

Spurs crashed out of the Europa League in embarrassing fashion after losing to Dinamo Zagreb and are flailing in a dogfight to secure European football.

With his team continuing to underperform, Kane has been heavily tipped to leave this summer – but Mourinho says his talisman still has plenty to look forward to.

Jose Mourinho says Harry Kane ‘has to be happy’ at Tottenham despite the club’s struggles

He said: ‘Ahead of him he has nice challenges: a final to play, Premier League to fight for every point and the Euros, and the possibility to play a final at Wembley.

‘He has to be happy with the moment.’

Sportsmail has previously reported that there is firm interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

A number of Tottenham’s domestic rivals, namely Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, are also understood to be eyeing up a swoop.

Mourinho refused to be drawn further into the fierce speculation surrounding Kane, however, and stated ‘I cannot play that game’.

‘I have to focus on what he is for us,’ Mourinho added. ‘Of course I’m always pleased with my players when they go to international games but I cannot play that game.’

It is believed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will refuse to entertain any interest from potential suitors in England – a move which halves Kane’s options.
