Josh Duhamel reveals the real reason why he split from Fergie after eight years of marriage

Josh Duhamel opened up in a new In Depth With Graham Bensinger interview and explained why things didn’t work out with his ex-wife Fergie.

The 50-year-old actor — who is expecting a child with new wife Audra Mari — shared that he and the Black Eyed Peas singer, 48, simply grew apart.

While speaking with Bensinger, he revealed, ‘I think we kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests.’

The couple wed in 2009, welcomed son Axl in 2013, and separated in 2017 before finalizing their divorce in 2019.

He added in the sit-down conversation, ‘I made peace with that part of my life. She and I have a great relationship. Both raising that boy together. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. We had a great time.’

The Shotgun Wedding star detailed further: ‘The older I got, the more I wanted to come out [to North Dakota]. This is not for her. But I’ve got no hard feelings…I’m very lucky that she’s a kind human. I really am.’

Josh, who is from Minot, North Dakota, described why he doesn’t feel the Hollywood lifestyle is for him.

‘I don’t think I ever really got comfortable with all of it. It was a lot. I just missed the simplicity of who I really am, you know?

‘I’m just not a guy who is comfortable going to red carpets. Doing all the Hollywood stuff. Hollywood and L.A. and that whole lifestyle can suck the soul out of you if you’re not careful,’ he mused.

Parts of the interview took place in Minnesota, where Duhamel owns a lakeside cabin.

While chatting with the host, he opened up: ‘It just took me a long time to really feel like I belong, like I fit in. Having this place out here really allows me to get back to that kid that fell in love with nature, fell in love with the outdoors and being creative and just being active.’

Bringing up his wife, he said, ‘That’s why Audra’s so great for me. We’re both hardcore North Dakotans…We both love lake life. We both love family. We both love kids.’

The couple announced they’re expecting in an Instagram post last month.

The pop star left a comment on Audra’s, 29, Instagram post, writing, ‘I am truly happy for you guys,’ and adding smiling emoji with hearts.

Josh later responded to Fergie’s kind words when he appeared on The Jess Cagle Show.

‘Fergie is an amazing woman. She really is. And she’s taken Audra in, you know, and it could be much worse,’ he acknowledged.
