Josh Gad hails Kristen Bell for saving family from Irma

The actor who voiced Olaf the snowman has praised his Frozen co-star Kristen Bell after she helped his family flee from Hurricane Irma.

Josh Gad, 36, sang Bell’s praises in posts on social media Friday, posting a picture of his parents with the star actress at a hotel in Orlando, Florida where she’d landed them a room.

‘No joke,’ Gad wrote on Twitter. ‘@IMKristenBell just literally saved my parents, my brothers and entire family from #HurricaineIrma – you are an angel. I adore you.’

Gad on Instagram explained that Bell had helped his extended family after they were unable to flee farther north and couldn’t find shelter in central Florida, where hotels are booked to capacity.

‘When they were stranded in Florida, she got them a hotel room at her hotel in Orlando and saved them, my brothers, my sister-in-law and niece and nephew,’ Gad wrote.

Bell was filming on location in Orlando for her upcoming film, Like Father, when like many thousands of others she became stranded as Hurricane Irma approached.

‘They don’t make them like this girl. Thank you Kristen. You are truly an angel sent from above,’ Gad wrote.

Bell, who voiced Princess Anna in Frozen, explained in her own Instagram that she had no choice but to hunker down in Orlando.

The city is under a Hurricane Warning and expecting wind gusts up to 75mph, but is outside of the storm surge zones under mandatory evacuation.

‘[W]e didn’t have the option to leave so here we are. Just doing our best and trying to stay positive but cautious, and trying to help those who need help prepping,’ Bell wrote.

‘Every person i passed today was assisting someone else…it was beautiful to see. Sad that a hurricane has to bring out the best in everyone- but happy that the community will be holding hands through this,’ she wrote.

Bell also thanked the staff at the Swan and Dolphin Resort, where she is staying ‘for helping us feel safe while we get through this together’.
