It’s the faux movie commercial so popular it launched an online petition to be made into a movie.
And onn Monday, Hollywood heavyweight Judd Apatow threw his support behind a Dundee, putting his hand up to direct the yet-to-be greenlit project.
Taking to Twitter, the 40-Year-Old Virgin director said a movie based on the Super Bowl commercial starring Chris Hemsworth can ‘still happen’.

Judd responded to a tweet from comedian Ike Barinholtz, who said he was ‘bummed’ the commercial wasn’t a real film trailer.
‘I agree! It can still happen. Dundee came to America. Now he has a kid he didn’t know about. What day do I start shooting?’ Judd tweeted.
The director has previously worked with one of the commercial’s stars, Danny McBride, on the 2008 film Pineapple Express.

The Hollywood director and producer has an impressive resume of comedy films, directing Knocked Up, This is 40, and Amy Schumer film, Trainwreck.
The blockbuster Dundee commercial aired on Sunday to more than 100 million Super Bowl viewers in the US as part of a Tourism Australia campaign.
However, instead of just American travellers, the commercial has inspired the idea of a re-make of original fish-out-of-water film, with the original plot inverted to see an American in the Australian outback.

The commercial’s star Chris told Newscorp he would be interested in a full-length film version given the kind of reaction the advertisement has received.
‘Hearing such a positive response from a fan point of view, I would definitely be open to it,’ the 34-year-old Thor star said.
Chris added that he’d need a ‘great script’ before jumping on board, but admitted he is already thinking about his upcoming schedule and if a Crocodile Dundee reboot could work or not.

The commercial starred Russell Crowe, Ruby Rose, Isla Fisher, Liam Hemsworth, Isla Fisher, Luke Bracey and Jessica Mauboy.
Newscorp reports that Chris could be Tourism Australia’s ‘$6 billion man,’ with the ad being worth a whopping $36 million and sales being estimated to reach $6 billion.
The mock movie trailer is the tourism board’s biggest single US advertising campaign since Paul Hogan’s Come Say G’Day ads in the 1980s.
