  • The 60-year-old former girlfriend of late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was convicted on December 29 of federal charges of sex trafficking
  • Maxwell was found guilty of five federal charges relating to her role in Epstein’s sexual abuse of minor girls between 1994 and 2004
  • Immediately after the trial one of the jurors, Scotty David, revealed that he had been sexually abused and used his experiences to guide the deliberations
  • Maxwell’s lawyers demanded a retrial, pointing out that potential jurors were asked before the trial commenced if they were survivors of abuse, and he said no
  • On Friday, Judge Alison Nathan ruled against acquitting her and affirmed her conviction on four of the five counts
  • She found count one – conspiracy to traffic minors across state lines for sex – was ‘multiplicitous’ with count three, so she will only be sentenced on four counts 

A U.S. judge on Friday denied a motion by Ghislaine Maxwell to overturn her December 2021 conviction on sex trafficking charges for her role in helping the late financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls.

Maxwell, 60, was convicted on December 29 of federal charges of sex trafficking.

Yet immediately after the trial one of the jurors, Scotty David, revealed that he had been sexually abused, and said that he used his experiences to inform the jury’s deliberations.

Maxwell’s team immediately sought a retrial, pointing out that all potential jurors were asked in their questionnaire if they were survivors of sexual abuse, and he said no.

In March, David was brought back before the judge, and apologized for failing to disclose the information.

On April 1, Judge Alison Nathan denied Maxwell a retrial.

On Friday, she refused Maxwell’s bid to be acquitted.

The judge, in Friday’s 45-page ruling, did combine two of the counts she was convicted on, meaning she will be sentenced on four counts, not five.
