Julie Bishop’s ex David Panton flaunts his new young love interest Genevieve Anderson at Manly Beach

Julie Bishop’s ex-boyfriend David Panton has been spotted embracing and enjoying a beer with his new girlfriend at a popular beach.

The 61-year-old was seen with flame-haired psychologist Genevieve Anderson, 38, on Friday at Manly Beach, before spending some time together at a local pub.

Mr Panton appeared to be swapping the high life to a chilled hangout with Ms Anderson after parting ways with the former Liberal Party deputy leader last July.

It comes after the couple were recognised last month in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on a waterside balcony at a seafood restaurant.

Images of the pair on Friday showed them laughing, hugging and chatting as they took to the streets and the beach.

The property developer was seen holding Ms Anderson around the waist as she cosied up to him on the sand.

Ms Anderson wore a black off-the-shoulder top with a short skirt and thongs, while Mr Panton sported a grey tank top with black shorts and white sneakers.

Both wore dark sunglasses, with Mr Panton wearing a black Ocean Respect Yacht Racing cap.

Earlier in the day Mr Panton went for a swim and a bike ride.

Ms Anderson is a specialist in perinatal psychology for new mums and runs her own clinic in Wahroonga on Sydney’s North Shore.

She is a triathlete and former Ironwoman competitor who took part in Manly’s Bold and Beautiful open water swimming challenge last year.

Mr Panton also takes part in the B&B, logging 364km so far in 2022 – the 20th greatest distance swum by a group member this year – and is said to have met Ms Anderson during their regular open sea swimming sessions off Manly Beach.

Friends told The Australian that the property developer and healthcare founder was said to be ‘smitten’ with his new young love interest.

Coincidentally, Ms Anderson’s mother, Sue, is just one year older than Mr Panton, and has been said to bear a passing resemblance to a younger Ms Bishop, 66.

Her father Barry Killham was a legendary figure within NSW Junior Rugby Union.

He was made one of the organisation’s first life members for his services to the sport and was responsible for driving a key restructure before his sudden death in 2014.

After leaving school in 2002, Ms Anderson served in the Australian Army as a medic for three years before studying to become a psychologist at the University of New South Wales.

Mr Panton was a regular on the arm of the one-time foreign minister for eight years, with the pair frequently jet-setting to meet the most powerful people in the world.

But the curtains suddenly came down on the long-running relationship in July, soon after a meeting with Prince Charles in London, shortly before he became king.

Ms Bishop has also been linked with a new love. She was said to be dating philanthropist Luke Hepworth – who emphatically denied a romance last month.

‘We are definitely not dating, mate,’ he told the Daily Telegraph after the pair were linked in the press. ‘I’m not in a relationship.

‘We are working on a charity project for the Children’s Cancer Institute. She is just a good friend of mine and a wonderful human, so we have been to a couple of charity events.’

Mr Panton split with Ms Bishop over dinner in Sydney in July – just a week after the couple visited London for dinner with the future King Charles.

The couple were dining in Sydney’s CBD where Mr Panton told a shocked Bishop their relationship had run its course.

‘I’m going to be focused on living in Manly and Melbourne for the foreseeable future,’ Mr Panton said at the time.

‘I wish Julie all the best in her ongoing stellar career.’

Ms Bishop was understood to have been ‘blindsided’ by the sudden breakdown of her relationship, sources close to the former politician said.

During their partnership, she took Mr Panton to the United Nations to meet world leaders, to Buckingham Palace to hobnob with British royalty and to the White House where he met Donald and Melania Trump.

The pair first stepped out publicly in 2014, and were pictured at countless celebrity events over the years, including the 2018 wedding of Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough.

Mr Panton’s company Pantonic Health claimed to be the first supplier of rapid antigen tests in Australia at the peak of the Covid spread in January.

Although he is still listed as a founder and director of the company with his daughters Sally and Lauren, his main income is now said to be property development.
