Junior fund manager ‘pasted colleague’s face on to porn’

A City worker stuck pictures of a colleague’s head on to the body of female porn stars and posted them on the internet when she rebuffed his advances, a court heard.

Davide Buccheri, 25, was working for major asset manager M&G in central London as a fund manager’s assistant when he is said to have targeted Rebecca Baker.

The Italian allegedly used the pseudonym ‘Flying Gerbil’ to post the gallery of mocked-up naked pictures of female porn stars with her head on in a bid to discredit her.

He used the company’s whistleblowing scheme to report her to bosses in a bid to discredit her after she rejected his romantic advances when she was working as post-graduate employee, it is alleged.

Prosecutors said that it was a planned and sophisticated approach to cause the Durham University graduate serious distress between 9 September 2016 and 29 May this year.

Ms Baker, 22, had joined the company that is part of the Prudential group as an intern where she met Buccheri, from Bologna, but left and later accepted a post-graduate position.

He denies one charge of harassment without violence.

Prosecutor Naomi Ryan said the allegation was that Buccheri had been ‘rebuffed’ and was acting in ‘revenge’ against Ms Baker.

‘He has taken a number of photographs from her social media accounts and uploaded them onto the website,’ she said.

She added: ‘He has then sent two complaints to his work bosses using the anonymous whistleblowing scheme, thought to be acting in revenge.’

Bearded Buccheri, who flew from Italy to attend court, was arrested on 8 August and charged with the offence on 5 October by City of London Police.

The trial could not proceed and was adjourned until March 8 by district judge Richard Blake.

He said: ‘Mr Buccheri, I am sorry this trial has not been able to proceed today – I am sure and as I have mentioned it is stressful for you and witnesses.

‘The trial will now be on the 8 March. Thank you very much we will meet again next year.’

Three police officers, Ms Baker and another witness are expected to give evidence at the trial.

Buccheri’s LinkedIn profile suggests that he has worked for the company since he graduated from a 12-month rotational programme.

His profile also states that he graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

M&G is an investment company managing the long-term savings of millions of people across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

According to their website, customers’ assets currently under their management total £281.5bn as of June 2017.
