Jurgen Klopp backs Liverpool to match Real Madrid’s Champions League final experience with ‘desire, attitude and work-rate’
Jurgen Klopp has admitted Real Madrid will have the advantage of more experience in Champions League finals, but doesn’t believe it will be the only factor determining the result.
The German will lead his Liverpool side into the final in Kiev this Saturday knowing full well that Real Madrid are favourites to lift a third-straight Champions League crown.
But while Klopp admits Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos will benefit from their know-how, he says Liverpool will look to negate that advantage through ‘desire, attitude and work-rate’.
Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to show more desire and a higher work-rate than Real Madrid
‘They are more experienced – that is a fact,’ the German said.
‘Experience is important in life but it is not the only thing. You can level it with desire, attitude and work-rate. and that is why I love football.’
‘We feel really good. It has been a very exciting journey so far. Now we want to bring it to the best possible end.’
Klopp refused to answer a question about whether Salah is more important to Liverpool than Ronaldo is to Real.
‘I can already read the headlines… which is why I won’t answer that question!’ he said.
