Justify worth $75MILLION following Triple Crown win

Justify, the winning horse of the Belmont Stakes, made history as the 13th horse in history to capture the Triple Crown on Saturday.

With the impressive accolade to his name, the chestnut colt is now the most valuable horse in racing history worth a record of $75million.

Justify’s breeding rights were sold by the horse’s owners to Coolmore – the world’s largest breeding operation of racehorses – for $60million, according to ESPN.

The horse’s Triple Crown win in New York added an additional $15million to his value.

Justify was purchased as a yearling for $500,000.

He made his spectacular debut four months ago on February 18 and won all five races that he started.

His Triple Crown win comes just 111 days after his first race.

His $75million value surpasses that of Fusaichi Pegasus, the horse Coolmore purchased in 2000 for $70million.

Adjusting for inflation, that figure would be $104 million today.

Coolmore will breed Justify in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, at least 250 times in his first year, per ESPN sources.

The breeding operation could make nearly half of their multi-million dollar deal back as live foals average $150,000.

The Triple Crown title means the three-year-old horse won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes.

It was just the second time in 40 years for a horse to win the coveted Triple Crown title.

On Saturday Justify won the 150th Belmont Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths in a stunning wire-to-wire victory at the mile-and-a-half track.

The race is significantly longer than the first two races in the Triple Crown and is known as the test of champions and the hardest race in the series.

Jockey Mike Smith, 52, was overjoyed after crossing the finish line atop Justify with a healthy lead on the second place finisher Gronkowski, as Hofburg finished third.

‘I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,’ said Smith, the oldest jockey to win the Triple Crown, immediately after the race. ‘This horse ran an amazing race. He’s sent from heaven.’

It was the second Triple Crown win for trainer Bob Baffert, who also trained the 2015 winner American Pharaoh.
