Justin Bieber’s bodyguard avoids felony charges for DUI crash with car that injured two officers

Justin Bieber’s head of security will no longer face felony charges after injuring two police officers in a crash.

Michael Arana, 32, was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries in Kendall, south of Miami, Florida, in November last year.

He was arrested in Miami after two cops were injured when their cruiser was rear-ended by Arana’s SUV.

After Bieber’s chief bodyguard pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless driving, he was ordered to pay about $1,000 in fines, complete 100 hours of community service and undertake a victim impact program, reports TMZ. He will also be on probation for a year.

Two misdemeanor charges of DUI and two felony charges of fleeing the scene have been dropped as prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence to prove Arana left the accident scene.

TMZ quotes sources saying that Arana did not show signs of impairment at the scene – he had refused to have either a blood test or breathalyzer – so prosecutors decided against pursuing the DUI charge.

Following the collision, he was eventually stopped by police along Southwest 88th Street and 157th Avenue.

Although Arana refused a blood test at the scene, receipts found in his pocket showed he’d paid for various drinks at midnight.
