For the first time in the history of Serie A, four Americans are starting in a match. It just so happens to be one of the country’s biggest and most contentious.

With Juventus and AC Milan facing each other this afternoon, the four American players on their teams have all earned a place in the starting XI – turning the Derby d’Italia into the Derby d’America.

Milan will put Christian Pulisic on the wing and Yunus Musah at central midfield.

On the opposite side, Juventus will put Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah on the right side of the field.

The two teams are right next to each other in the Serie A table – sitting at second and third at the time of kickoff.

Weston McKennie

Timothy Weah

Meanwhile, Juventus fielded a lineup with Weston McKennie (L) and Timothy Weah (R)

All four of these Americans are playing on teams that they weren’t a part of earlier this year.

McKennie, the longest tenured of these four players, was loaned out by Juventus to Leeds United for the back half of last season.

The other three all moved to their respective clubs this season. Weah moved from French side Lille to Juventus, Pulisic moved to Milan from Chelsea, and Musah went from La Liga team Valencia to Milan.

All of them have had major impacts on their teams this season – with McKennie, Weah, and Pulisic playing in every league game this season.
