The Uruguayan great has one year left on his Barcelona deal and has been linked with a move back to Ajax this summer, with Serie A champions Juventus also indicating their interest, according to Marca.

Suarez has never played in Italy but has an Italian passport after applying through his wife Sofia Balbi, and could relish the chance to live in Turin – playing in a front-three alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain for new boss Andrea Pirlo.

The experienced forward is firmly among the greatest of his generation after smashing in 406 goals in 612 games for Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool and Barca.

Suarez’s nostalgia for the five-year spell in Holland which saw him become one of the world’s top prospects could bring him back to Amsterdam late in his career, but David Beckham’s Inter Miami are also linked.

The brand new MLS club have already landed ex-Juventus star Blaise Matuidi this summer and Suarez could follow in the likes of Frank Lampard, Pirlo and Steven Gerrard in spending their last playing days in America.

Suarez’s season was disrupted by knee surgery but he still managed 21 goals in 36 games, showing he still has the legs to continue his incredible partnership with Messi.
