Juventus ‘hope to land Harry Kane deal’ after Tottenham’s Champions League exit

Juventus ‘hoping to land huge Harry Kane deal’ as Italian giants look to take advantage of Tottenham’s Champions League failure… and they want him to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘new Karim Benzema’

  • The Turin outfit want to pounce on the club’s exit from the Champions League
  • Juve want Kane to link up with Cristiano Ronaldo as the club’s number nine
  • They hope to recreate his partnership with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid

Juventus are eyeing up an ambitious swoop for Tottenham star Harry Kane and want the England captain to forge a partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports from Italy.

Tottenham were dumped out of the Champions League by Leipzig after a 4-0 aggregate defeat and qualification through the league is looking increasingly unlikely. The Italian giants hope that will be a factor in luring Kane to Turin.

The club want Kane to be Ronaldo’s ‘new Karim Benzema’ – a number nine that can guarantee Juventus goals while allowing the Portuguese star to play with more freedom, recreating his link-up with the Frenchman from his time at Real Madrid, Tuttosport claims.

The report adds that the club are keen to ‘raise the bar’ to secure Kane’s signature, with general manager Fabio Paratici including him on a shortlist of possible signings for next season.

Juve are rumoured to be in the market for a new forward to provide competition for both Ronaldo and Dybala. Tuttosport say they are also keeping an eye on on-loan PSG forward Mauro Icardi, who has been clinical since joining from Inter this season, as well as Man City’s Gabriel Jesus and Leipzig hotshot Timo Werner.

The Old Lady, who have won Serie A for the last eight seasons, would be able to offer Kane a chance to win trophies. The 26-year-old has previously said he was happy to stay at Tottenham so long as they kept improving as a club.

‘I’ve always said: “keep progressing, keep getting better”, we want to start winning trophies,’ he said in 2018. ‘That’s the aim, as long as the club keep doing that then, yeah I’m happy here.’

Kane is currently stepping up his recovery from a hamstring injury he suffered at the start of the year against Southampton, with Spurs going through a miserable run of form without his quality in front of goal.

The England international managed 17 goals in all competitions this season before his injury, with 11 coming in the Premier League and six in the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho has been forced to play Dele Alli as makeshift strikers after watching Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn also fall to the sidelines, although it is hoped that Kane could make his return by April.

Tottenham’s poor display at Leipzig saw them lose 3-0, with Hugo Lloris at fault for the opening two goals from Marcel Sabitzer. Emile Forsberg wrapped up the win to put Leipzig through to the last eight and send last season’s finalists packing.
