Juventus make final check on Pochettino as they hunt for new boss… but Sarri is still front-runner for the job
- Juventus plan to press ahead with appointment of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri
- But they have checked in on Mauricio Pochettino’s availability at Tottenham
- Spurs are preparing to face Liverpool in the Champions League final in Madrid
- Juve parted company with Massimiliano Allegri after five years in charge
Juventus have made a final check on Mauricio Pochettino’s availability ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final.
The Italian giants are poised to press ahead with plans to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new boss following the Chelsea manager’s meeting with Stamford Bridge officials on Friday, before he flew back to Italy.
Chelsea will not sack Sarri, but will not stop him if he wants to quit. Juve would then have to pay the Blues £5million in compensation.

It is understood that Sarri told Chelsea in a meeting on Friday that he wants to leave the club this summer.
Juve are looking for a new boss after Max Allegri’s exit this month. Sportsmail revealed on Thursday how Juventus players had been told to expect Chelsea boss Sarri to be installed as their next manager.
And the 60-year-old remains the front-runner to replace Allegri in Turin, but Juve chiefs are being kept updated on whether Pochettino would consider leaving Tottenham after tonight’s Champions League final in Madrid. That scenario looks unlikely, with all the signals at Spurs indicating Pochettino is planning to stay at the club next season.
Juve have compiled a two-tier wishlist in their search for a new manager. Pochettino and Pep Guardiola feature on the primary list, although there is a recognition that it would be hugely difficult to lure either of them to Juve.
Sarri heads the list of managers viewed as realistically obtainable by the Serie A champions.
