South Korean group Blackpink have set a record for the fastest music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube.

YG Entertainment, the group’s management company, said the group’s latest video ‘Kill This Love’ surpassed 100 million hits around 2pm on Sunday, just two days and 14 hours after being released.

The music video, published at midnight on Friday, received more than 10 million views in just four hours and 13 minutes.

‘Kill This Love’ beat a record previously held by Psy, another South Korean singer, with the song ‘Gentleman’.
The video earned 56.7 million views on YouTube in its first 24 hours, getting ahead of Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank You, Next’, which got 56.4 million hits 24 hours after being released.
The song is part of a five-track EP including Kill This Love, Don’t Know What To Do, Kick It and Hope Not, as well as a Ddu-du Ddu-du remix.

Blackpink is a South Korean girl group with members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, who are in their 20s.
They debuted as a group in August 2016 with the EP ‘Square One’.
The group is the highest-charting female K-pop act on Billboard Social 50.
In January 2019, their song Ddu-Du Ddu-Du became the most-viewed music video by a K-pop group on YouTube.

This summer, Blackpink will perform at Coachella in California for the first time.
In May, they will also visit the UK on their world tour.
Their songs are mainly about love and break-ups, but they also sing about youth (‘Forever Young’).
Jennie is the only member in the band to have released solo music so far with her song ‘SOLO’.

The name Blackpink was given to the group to symbolise the multi-dimensional nature of its four members.
A representative of YG said: ‘Pink is commonly used to portray prettiness, but Black Pink actually means to say that ‘Pretty isn’t everything’.
‘It also symbolizes that they are a team that encompasses not only beauty, but also great talent.’
