‘But I was so convinced that my bags were packed for Greece,’ she continued.

”And then I didn’t get it. I was so devastated. And I’m not [normally] devastated over roles,’ The Big Bang Theory star acknowledged.

‘I had done chemistry reads, I had done Zooms. And I didn’t get it. I cried and I cried all night long. And it went to Kate, who’s great.’

Kaley went on to say that she received a call the following day about her upcoming romantic comedy Meet Cute, in which she will star with Pete Davidson playing her love interest.

‘They were like, “We have an interesting script.” And I said, “I don’t want to read anything. I suck. No one wants me.” They said, “You’ve got to read this.”

The California native added, ‘And Pete was already attached, and I’m like, “Okay, I’ll read it.” And when I did, I said, “This is the most magical little script.” And I would’ve never gotten it if I [got] Knives Out 2.

‘It just shows you that you’re where you’re supposed to be,’ she concluded.  ‘I mean, I was gutted over that. And that’s when I thought I was on fire, like, I’m for sure getting that. And they were like, “No, we’re going to go with Kate.”’

Original star Daniel Craig will return for Knives Out 2 and in addition to Kate, new cast members include Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick, and Ethan Hawke.

Kaley told Glamour that she was not given a reason why the part went to the 42-year-old Almost Famous actress instead.

‘[But the whole time prior,] I was thinking I was hot shit: I’m going to be with Daniel Craig. This is amazing. But I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out.

She continued, ‘That’s what it was supposed to be, and Knives Out 2 is going to be great and Kate’s great. She was supposed to do it and I was supposed to do this. And maybe I’ll get to audition for the third one.’

Production on Meet Cute wrapped last August, though a release date for the movie has not been announced.

A release date for Knives Out 2 also has not yet been confirmed. Filming for the sequel was completed last September.

Kaley can next be seen on the second season of the HBO mystery series The Flight Attendant, which will premiere on April 21.

Earlier in the day the star took to her Instagram Stories to show a clip of her doing tactical training with a gun and a large knife.

The blonde beauty wore a black T-shirt and skintight black leggings. She paired the outfit with a black hat as well as a tactical belt around her waist.

At first, her training consisted of shooting her weapon at white mannequin torsos, positioned in-between blue barrels.

The actress then switched to throwing a large knife at a red square wooden target.
