The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly hoping to trade up ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft next week after their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

While few teams look to move up in the drafting order due to the lack of strength in this year’s class, the former champions may be relying on the draft to get an upgrade.

On Friday, ESPN published a draft preview in which analyst Matt Miller reported that Kansas City is ‘actively looking’ to ascend in the order.

According to Miller, the move ‘would likely be for a long-term offensive tackle solution.’

‘I heard the goal would be to move in front of the Houston Texans (No. 25) and the Los Angeles Rams (No. 26) if the Chiefs like a specific left tackle still on the board,’ he added.

Notably, the analyst mentioned beforehand that he believes it will be ‘very difficult for a team to find value in moving up this year.’

Apart from the Pittsburgh Steelers looking to secure a quarterback, ‘there simply aren’t enough blue-chip prospects at money positions in this class worth paying high draft capital to land,’ Miller wrote.

Trading up would be one of the few moves that the Chiefs made this offseason. Aside from acquiring left tackle Jaylon Moore, the team has had a relatively quiet free agency so far.

While Kansas City cruised toward a third straight Super Bowl appearance in February, their blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans has shaken the Chiefs to patch up some glaring issues.

A move up on the draft could allow them to acquire top-rated outside tackle Josh Simmons. However, Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated has predicted that the Ohio State ace will land in Houston with the 25th pick.

If they fail to secure a trade, Manzano suggests the Chiefs will use their 31st pick to draft Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson.

The first round of the NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 24.
