Karl Stefanovic laughs as he mocks Instagram-famous sisters

Jet-setting ‘Twinstagram’ model sisters have reduced Today show host Karl Stefanovic to fits of laughter after they compared their protest pest brother to Martin Luther King.

Eric Serge Herbert, 22, climbed atop a train in a protest to disrupt Newcastle’s coal industry was handed a 12 month sentence on Monday for obstructing the locomotive and attempting to hinder mining equipment.

But LA-living sisters Elisha and Renee Herbert, originally from Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, have said their brother was not unlike the famous black civil rights leader or Nelson Mandela and Rosa Parks.

The sisters, who boast more than three million combined followers on Instagram, say the convicted nuisance, who is also facing charges in the ACT, was ‘fighting against climate change on behalf of all of us’.

‘I mean these professional protesters – they’re stopping industry. What a great leader,’ Stefanovic mocked.

Stefanovic played a clip of King’s famous ‘I have a dream’ speech.

‘Gives you chills doesn’t it. Arguably the greatest speech in history.’

‘Roll  forward 58 years and meet Eric Serge Herbert. Jailed in Newcastle Local Court for an anti coal mine protest’.

‘His sisters from the Sunshine Coast living in LA – that’s a long way from Caloundra – are keeping it real comparing their brother to Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, and more surprisingly Rosa Parkes’.

He then asked Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambe if she had an opinion.

‘I don’t get it Karl. I’m trying to get in with the younger generation. I’m even on that Tic Tac thing. But I just don’t get it’ she replied.

‘Tic Tac, that’s the best,’ said Stefanovic between bursting into laughter.

The sisters are furious their triplet brother is being treated like a ‘rapist or a murderer’ over the environmental demonstration.

‘The fact that people are getting no time in jail for raping and killing people yet a climate change activist gets a year is f***ing beyond me. I’m so f***ing mad,’ Elisha posted to her army of followers.

‘People say ‘he stopped a coal train he deserves what he gets or he made people an hour late to work’… are you actually kidding me?

‘People are getting mad that they were one hour late to work once, well in 20 years when the world is f***ing dying and there is nothing you can do, nothing to reverse it, your not going to care about 20 years ago when you were one hour late to work so don’t you dare f***ing say that is justice. That is not justice.’

Elisha Herbert said on Instagram she’s ‘so f**king mad’ about her brother’s jail sentence

Elisha also claimed he has been banned from communicating with his partner.

‘Not only did they sentence a non violent activist to a year in prison but they also took away his girlfriend’s car, her phone and will not allow them to contact each other for the time he’s in jail. How the f**k is that legal?’ she said.

‘Excuse my language but I’m so mad right now.

‘Oh and we haven’t even spoken to him… we only know this information from online. They won’t let him speak to anyone. They treat actual criminals better than this.’

Renee called the judgement ‘f***ing ridiculous’.

‘People who commit an actual crime can get the bare minimum, but someone who actually gives a f**k about climate change is sentenced to 12 months?

The ultra-glamorous sisters took the international modelling world by storm after posting photos to Instagram when they were just 14.

They quickly garnered thousands of followers each and were soon picked up by fashion brand Peppermayo.

Eight years later, the stylish brunettes spend most of their time in LA but criss-cross the globe for fashions shoots in exotic locations from Italy to Mexico and Hawaii – getting snapped for huge brands like Calvin Klein, Lounge Underwear and Princess Polly.

Ironically, their brother hates having his photograph taken, the pair revealed in a 2018 interview.
