Karl Stefanovic has been slammed after he called Kylie Minogue a ‘hot 50-year-old’ and told her to stop dating ‘good-looking d**kheads’ in a bizarre interview.
The host, 43, also brought out a cake and sang happy birthday to the pop sensation in the wince-inducing chat during Sunday’s episode of 60 Minutes.
Viewers were less than impressed with the father-of-three’s onscreen antics, blasting the ‘trainwreck’ interview and calling for someone more ‘professional’ to take the helm.

Kylie, who was promoting her latest album Golden, talked about what it feels like to be turning 50 ahead of her birthday after decades in the limelight.
‘My friends say ‘Do you know what? I’m just going to try to enjoy myself, I’m just going to try love the people I love, do the best I can, understand as best as possible where I am in the world, where I may have stuffed it up, where I am at the moment,’ she said.
Karl, who is engaged to ex-model Jasmine Yarbrough, 34, replied grinning: ‘Well, you’re doing it very well. I mean, it helps obviously that you’re a hot 50-year-old.’
Kylie was left speechless by the comment and laughed: ‘Oh, well, thanks. We try, we try.’

Looking around awkwardly, she winced and added: ‘I mean, I don’t know what to say to that!’ as Karl chuckled opposite her.
Karl then steered the chat to her failed engagement with British actor Joshua Sasse, telling her to ‘stop dating incredibly good-looking d**kheads.’
Discussing the split, Minogue said: ‘I’m thankful. I don’t want to go through it again but there’s some lessons that take a little while to learn.
‘Is it because I’m 49 and eleven twelfths that I’m becoming a little wiser? I do feel like I’ve kind of shed a skin.’

Karl replied: ‘That’s why I say that you’re incredibly tough, you’re resilient and you’re a survivor.’
Taking a pause, Kylie nodded and hesitantly said: ‘I think I am, yeah. But there’s definitely that fragile side and I don’t think that’s a bad thing either.’
‘The softer side, the vulnerable side, the side that’s able to be hurt,’ Karl added, to which Kylie said: ‘Yes, otherwise what’s the point? I’m just going for things.
